The South African Library for the Blind (SALB) extends an invitation to jobless South Africans to apply for the 2024–2025 Internship Program.

Applications are being accepted for the internship program of the South African Library for the Blind (SALB).
Monthly stipend: R7 157.25
Duration: One Year Agreement
The goal of the internship program is to give visually impaired people who have completed a relevant N6 qualification, a National Diploma, or a Degree at a Tertiary Institution accredited by SAQA, the opportunity to intern and gain experience in their field of study in a setting that is relevant to their respective work disciplines within the SALB.
Regarding the implementation of Phase 1, South African citizens who are visually impaired (legally blind or diagnosed with low vision) and who fulfill the necessary minimum standards are encouraged to express interest in a 12-month internship program in one of the following fields:
Management of Human Resources
Office Management and Secretarial
Management and Business Administration
Data Processing
Information and Library Science
Public relations and marketing
Accounting and Finance
Chain of Supply
Public Management
Minimum Conditions
Candidates who want to be considered for the internship program must:
possess a minimum of an N6 qualification in a field related to one of the aforementioned subjects.
possess an intermediate degree of computer literacy with the MS Office suite.
possess a low vision diagnosis or be legally blind. It will be necessary to provide proof of this legal blindness or low vision diagnosed by an ophthalmologist or optometrist on the necessary DBE126 form.
Hold a South African nationality.
Possess fluency in English, the language of business.
Be able and willing to pay for one’s own daily independent transportation to and from the job and home (the incumbent’s cost)
Live in the province (in this case, the Eastern Cape) where the internship positions may be found
Possess strong interpersonal and communication abilities to build and preserve positive relationships with co

Submissions from youth meeting the requirements are encouraged so as to support national drives at developing and employing youth.
All certificate and supporting documents must be certified within the last three months.
SALB reserves the right to not to fill all the opportunities, or to stagger the placement of Interns to best roll-out the program.
